Where can NGOs get Donations of Books, Computers and Vehicles

Where can NGOs get Donations of Books, Computers and Vehicles

NGOs give high priority to financial assistance for which they need to conceptualize projects, write proposals, contact donors and follow-up for assured funding. While working on these time-consuming processes, NGOs fail to realize the importance of non-financial resources which are more easily available than direct grants. In fact, like grant-making agencies, there are also international organizations that are constantly involved in the process of securing non-financial assets and transferring them to needy communities and NGOs in developing countries.
Non-financial donations can include books, computers, furniture, stationary and even vehicles. These resources can be very crucial for long-term sustainability of projects and programs implemented by NGOs in developing countries. Small organizations that struggle with resources can look for these easily available non-financial donations to develop their office facilities in remote areas. Other organizations can also seek such donations to implement community-based organizational mechanisms or set-ups and transfer such assets to them.
In today’s grant scenario, project funding for purchasing equipment such as computers and vehicles has been drastically reduced. In fact, many donor agencies have completely stopped covering such costs and are only offering grants for direct project activities. The sustainability of project infrastructure and ownership problems are core reasons for donors to move away from covering infrastructural costs and directly funding only community-based actions.
Considering all these developments, we have developed a list of sources from where NGOs can seek non-financial donations such as computer equipment, books and to limited extent vehicles. These sources are international agencies willing to extend such resources to needy organizations and communities in developing countries.

I am the founder of Outreach Faith Ministry. One of our departments – Community Therapy Center – helps poor rural people to access free therapy treatment of their nerve related ailments. But we need a van, two tents and an electric generator. These facilities will enable us reach the remote areas where people are sick in their villages but can not afford to come to town for treatment. We have helped many old aged and women in the rural areas but our determent is the aforementioned facilities. We have restored health to many and I hope you will help us.

St. John Zambia offers valuable assistance to the people of this country. St John Ambulance Zambia has continued to offer valuable services to the people of Zambia providing First aid, Emergency, Community Health, HIV / AIDS and Youth programmes.
Increasingly, St. John Zambia is gaining success in securing contracts with businesses and other organizations in Zambia to undertake first aid training in the workplace. This brings in a small amount of income to the association. Apart from this, St. John Zambia relies on public donations and local sponsorship to continue its valuable services. We also rely on voluntarism.
A vehicle will be necessary to facilitate care for those benefiting from our extensive Home-Based Care, Eye Care Mother and Child Health, Youth Development programs and for administration duties!
We are humbly asking in donating a Motor vehicle and 4 computers. Our First aid / Educational programs require a reliable vehicle to transport our youths / cadets and Brigade members as well as equipment to training sites around and outside Lusaka.

Fambul Initiative Network for Equality-FINE Sierra Leone is a male-led initiative to reposition Sexual Reproductive health Rights and Gender Equality Advocacy Campaign in post war Sierra Leone, West Africa.
The organization was established in 2010 and works with men and boys to address gender based violence and violence against women and girls such as rape, sexual harassment, beating including harmful traditional practices such female Genital Mutilation and early/force marriage in Sierra Leone.
The innovative is new and gradually gaining grounds as we work in rural/chiefdom communities with traditional leaders and opinion leaders and through our chiefdom community programmes structures such as “Husband Schools for married men and Gender YouthLABs for adolescent boys”.
UNFPA is currently supporting the initiative as the outputs directly impact to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes in Sierra Leone. This funding support however only supports direct project activities and not institutional capacity. Sierra Leone has one of the highest maternal and infant mortality rate in the 21 century…(UN Human Index Report)
FINE-Sierra Leone is a proud winner of the “2012 Global Resolve Award on Reproductive Health” for its unique initiative. We have 280 male advocates and peer educators with over 600 volunteers at various levels in communities we serve.
We can consolidate gains and expand to other parts of the country, replicate lessons learnt across the country to improve women and girls sexual health and right and eventually scale up.
    WE need strong institutional support to accomplish this;
(A). 12 Computers for Database on field surveys and statistics of field incidences in each chiefdom at 12 district level. These data collected will triangulate with District health Medical Team PHU so as a legitimize its feed into the national DHS .
(B). 12 XL Bike(one per district) for monitoring/supervision of chiefdom male-advocates and peer educators and 2 Rough Terrain 4WD Toyota for Programme management team and one ambulance to help convey pregnant women from remote and hard to reach community to access maternal health ANC services at PHU located at distant. Many pregnant women are not able to access PHU and services because of poverty and cannot afford the cost subsequently many miss out of schedule/required ANC visits.
(C). A Range of office furniture – Tables, Chairs, metal filling Cabinets etc.
FINE Sierra Leone is registered with the government of Sierra Leone and is a nonpartisan and charitable organization working with men and boys to improve SRHR and GEA outcomes. Your support is crucial. We invite you to Sierra Leone for an Assessment/Acquaintance visit with FINE-SL
